Marrakech - Fez

 

 

Day 1: Marrakech – Ait ben haddo - Ouarzazat – The Rose Valley – Dades

 

After breakfast, we will leave Marrakech and head for the High Atlas and Tizi Ntichka (2,260 metres high), passing by some Berber villages until we get to the kasbah of Ait Benhaddo, World Heritage site. Free time to visit the Kasbah and to have lunch in that village. Then, we will visit the film city, Ouarzazate. Then, our trip will continue to the south of the country, where we will discover the Rose Valley and the Dades Gorge. Diner and accommodation in a hotel.

 

Day 2: Dades Gorge – Todra Gorge - Merzouga

 

Today we will travel along an earthen road, full of different Kasbahs, all of them of stunning beauty. With several stops to admire them and take photos, we will get the Todra Gorge. The Todra River has eroded the land for thousands of years and has formed enormous vertical walls (322 metres high) and a unique scenery. It is a paradise for climbers. After lunch, we will go further south until we get to the incredible dunes of Merzouga. Free time to stroll among the dunes and see the sunset. There are still some more surprises. A real Berber dinner will be waiting for us with a fantastic drum show. Accommodation in a hotel at the foot of the dunes.

 

Day 3: Merzouga – Rissani – Merzouga Dunes

 

Today’s stage is the shortest, but full of surprises. We will visit the wonderful Erg Chebbi Desert, the only desert that changes colors from one spot to another. The adventure does not finish there. We will travel across the desert visiting the village of black people, natives of Mali. At noon, we will get to Rissani, the second imperial city of Morocco. We will visit the Great Souk (Bazaar), point of encounter for all the caravans of traders coming from Africa. Here we can try the typical Berber pizza. In the evening, we will go back to Erg Chebbi, where the dromedaries will be waiting to take us to the dunes to see a magnificent sunset. We will spend the night in the dunes, sleeping in a tent, in the heart of the desert. Dinner and accommodation in tents.

 

Day 4: Merzouga- Fes

 

From Merzouga we will travel to Errachdia, a valley full of palm trees 80 km from Ziz Valley and then, to the Middle Atlas to visit the cedar woods and Ifran - Morocco’s Switzerland. Dinner and accommodation in a hotel in Fes.

 

Day 5: Fes - Fes

 

Whole day to visit the city, with a local guide and discover the medina. End of our trip.

 

 

 

From Fez to the Atlas and Desert Tour

Five-day tour departing from Fez

High Atlas- Telouet Valley- Ksar Ait Benhaddou – Ouarzazate – Skoura Palm Grove – Erfoud – Draa Valley – Dades Valley – Zagora - Erg Chebbi Desert Dunes –Merzouga – Todra Gorge - Anti Atlas

 

Day 1: Fez – Ifrane – Woods of the monkeys – Azrou - Midelet- Ziz Gorge – Desert

 

In the early morning we leave Fez and go to the south of Morocco and visit Ifrane, Azrou and the cedar woods where wild Atlas monkeys live! After that, we go to the port of Tizi-N-Talghoumlt, and then, Ziz Valley and the Tafilalet Oasis where you can admire the great extensions of date palm groves. In the evening, we get to the desert in Merzouga. We will stay in a hotel.

 

Day 2: Merzouga Desert - Rissani- Erg Chebbi

 

After breakfast, we visit the town of Rissani, which has a special charm and an interesting history. It is considered the heir of the mythical Sijilmassa, former capital of Tafilalet, which had over 100.000 inhabitants. From that splendid time, there are only some traces left near the Oued Ziz. Rissani is, above all, a holy ground, legend has it that in the XII century a tremendous drought hit the Tafilalet and local chiefs asked Hassan el Alaoui, descendant from Mohammed, to come from Arabia and use his influence to provoke rain. And so it happened. Thus, the predecessor of Mulay el Rachid settled down in Tafilalet and gave birth to the dynasty reigning in Morocco. After the visit, we will go back to the dunes. At sunset, an excursion to the heart of the sand sea, on dromedary back and overnight in tents.

 

Day 3: Erg Chebbi - Erg Ouzina – Plateau of M’ Harech – Alnif – Todra Gorge

 

It is worth getting up early to admire the sunrise. After breakfast, visit to the town where African musicians from Sudan live. After that, we will go to see the old tracks of the Dakar Rally, passing through some spectacular desert landscapes such as the Ouzina desert and its dunes. Then, we will cross the palm groves of the M'harech Straits, and after that, the Todra Gorge via Alnif. A walk down the gorge and the valley. Overnight in a Riad.

 

Day 4: Todra Gorge – Ouarzazate - Kasbah of Ait Benhaddou- High Atlas- Kasbah of Telouet - Marrakech

 

After breakfast, we will pay a visit to Ouarzazate, with the kasbah of Taourirte and the kasbah used for different movies - Ait Benhaddou. Then, we go to Marrakech through the High Atlas. We visit the Kasbah of Telouet and have lunch. In the afternoon, we will continue to the port of Tichka, 2,260 metres. Overnight in Marrakech.

 

Day 5: Marrakech- Essaouira- Marrakech

 

Today we will see a different Morocco – the Atlantic coast and Essaouira, "The white and blue town of Mogador”. Free time to relax and enjoy Essaouira’s medina, World Heritage site, and the fishing port. You can contemplate the sunset on the beaches where surfers from all over the world come to practice and enjoy their passion. In the evening, we will go back to Marrakech.

 

NOTE: This 5-day tour could also star in Marrakech and end in Fez. And it could last 4 days.
